Bijan Robinson becomes NFL's highest-paid RB on new Falcons deal

His training camp hold-in with the Atlanta Falcons just ended with a new three-year contract extension worth up to $75 million.

NFL's Ian Rapoport reported that Robinson's deal has a base value of $66.75 million, which translates to an average of $22.25 million per year.

That mark surpasses that of Eagles running back Saquon Barkley's $20.6 million, meaning Robinson is now the position's top annual earner.

Robinson also landed $51 million guaranteed, $37 million of it at signing, the most guaranteed money ever handed to a running back on a non-rookie deal.

Why Robinson deserved his payday

Dynamic as both a runner and receiver, the size of Robinson's deal comes as no surprise after he led all running backs with 2,298 all-purpose yards in 2025.

And those career-best numbers followed a banner sophomore season in which he amassed 1,887 all-purpose yards and tied for third with 14 rushing touchdowns.

Falcons big-money extensions continue

Robinson's deal is the latest in a series of big-name extensions by the Falcons.

Wide receiver Drake London inked a new deal in early June, with tight end Kyle Pitts doing the same three weeks later.

And with guard Matthew Bergeron following suit earlier last weekend, Atlanta now has the foundation pieces in place for years to come.

There's still one situation up in the air, with newcomer Tua Tagovailoa locked into a quarterback battle with 2024 first-rounder Michael Penix, but at least whoever wins that competition won't be short of weapons.

What Robinson's deal means for Gibbs and Co.

Somewhere, Detroit Lions' running back Jahmyr Gibbs is taking notes.

He's still got two years of team control left after Detroit picked up his fifth-year option back in April, but Robinson's number just became the new bar for his own extension.
