Caleb Willians 'Iceman' trademark has been denied

Caleb Williams didn't get his wish, for now.
Josh Gerben of GerbenLaw.com, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, told Williams on Wednesday, June 24, that it is initially refusing his application for the nickname 'Iceman'. The USPTO said the application for the moniker is too much like the trademark owned by LaCrosse for an “Iceman” line of insulated boots.
Williams can appeal the ruling.
Gerben's decision said Williams' attempt at the 'Iceman' name is identical, and some of the goods in the Chicago Bears quarterback's application closely resemble LaCrosse's products, and people may confuse one for the other.
When Williams first filed for the trademark, controversy arose because NBA Hall of Famer George Gervin was known as the 'Iceman' during his playing career. Also, former UFC light heavyweight champion and legendary Chuck Liddell was known by the nickname during his fighting days. But neither Gervin nor Liddell took the necessary steps to secure the trademark.
