Packers Josh Jacobs formally charged with two misdemeanors

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been formally charged with two misdemeanors related to his arrest back in May.
Jacobs was originally booked on five charges when he was arrested on May 26: one felony and four misdemeanors.
Wisconsin court records have confirmed that Jacobs is being charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property.
The running back is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Nov 17.
Jacobs arrest in May
On May 26, Jacobs was arrested after he turned himself in and was booked at the Brown County Jail in Wisconsin.
He was released a day later without charges, as the district attorney's office needed more time to review the evidence.
The initial counts on which he was arrested were battery (domestic abuse, criminal property damage), domestic abuse, disorderly conduct (domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation), and intimidation of a victim.

Jacobs' legal representatives released the following statement:
"The Brown County District Attorney has reviewed evidence and elected to file misdemeanor charges against Josh that do not include domestic violence. The allegations will be addressed in court, and not in the media. Mr. Jacobs respects the District Attorney's office and the process it followed."
Jacobs' future in the NFL
There is still a pending investigation from the NFL on whether Jacobs will be suspended or not.
Packers' GM Brian Gutekunst would consider keeping an extra running back in case Jacobs is not able to start the season, after stating that the team is ready for the NFL's suspension.
"We'll deal with that if that transpires but we could," said Gutekunst on Wednesday.
"You're always usually going to keep three or four running backs, and I think we have enough to do that."
The Packers are set to start their season against the Vikings in Minneapolis on Sep 13.
