Josh Mauro: NFL pays tribute after former Cardinals lineman dies aged 35
Josh Mauro, a British-born defensive lineman who spent eight seasons in the NFL, died last Thursday at the age of 35. A cause of death has not been confirmed.
His father, Greg, shared the news yesterday. The Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders both paid tribute shortly after.
Mauro's NFL career
Born in St Albans, England, Mauro moved to the US at an early age and played college football at Stanford.
After joining the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2014, Mauro signed with the Cardinals, where he enjoyed six of his eight years in the NFL.
He spent a season with the New York Giants in 2019 and Oakland Raiders in 2020, before returning to Arizona for the final two years of his career.
Tributes paid to Mauro
Stanford football paid tribute in a message shared on social media.
Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby posted a heartfelt video expressing his love for Mauro and his family.
"I love you bro, and I know you had my back since day one," Crosby said.
"We came from the same area in Texas," he continued. "You were a great human being. I love you bro, rest in peace."
