Chiefs' reunion tour: Will Kelce, Sneed and Bieniemy be enough?

In an attempt to revive the dynasty, the Kansas City Chiefs have not only gone back to the well but launched headlong into it.

As rumours grow and odds shrink on yet another reunion in the form of wideout Tyreek Hill, I break down whether bringing in so many familiar faces is the right approach for Andy Reid and Co.

Who the Chiefs have brought back

L'Jarius Sneed

The 29-year-old was one of the better cornerbacks in the league before he left the Chiefs for the Tennessee Titans.

But even when he hasn't been sidelined with a persistent quad injury, his performances over the last two years have been well below previous levels.

The one-year, $5 million deal is the kind of prove-it deal that takes all of that into account, but it's a long shot that we see anything like the player he once was.

Travis Kelce

Kelce's return was the bigger story after he signed a three-year deal to quash the retirement rumours.

At 36, he's not as productive as he used to be, but his undeniable chemistry with Patrick Mahomes means he'll still be an asset.

Eric Bieniemy

The importance of Bieniemy's return as the offensive coordinator shouldn't go overlooked.

Having won two Super Bowls in Kansas City last time around, he certainly has what it takes to help the unit rebound.

You only have to listen to the players' comments to see what he means to the Chiefs.

Will the reunion tour work for the 2026 Chiefs?

Each of the three moves above will help Reid's cause this year, but they still need to do more.

There's a hole at right tackle, question marks at receiver and edge rusher, and the Chiefs need rookie corner Mansoor Delane to catch fire early if the departures of Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson aren't to be felt too hard in the secondary.

Let's not forget that Mahomes' health and the off-field concerns of star wideout Rashee Rice also hang over Kansas City's preparation for the new campaign.

That's a lot of question marks, considering the gauntlet the Chiefs must run on the path to the Super Bowl.

They've just surrendered the division title to a Denver team boasting an elite defense and an offense that just got better with the addition of Jaylen Waddle.

There's also the Los Angeles Chargers, who, on their day, can beat anyone.

And finally, even if they reach the playoffs, there's a strong AFC field standing in their way.

With Kenneth Walker, an exciting rookie class, and the return of the three players mentioned above, the Chiefs are definitely laying the groundwork to be more competitive in 2026.

But it's a long way back to the very top, and until we see the reunion era pile up wins, the jury is still out on their Super Bowl chances.
