NFL denies Brendan Sorsby entry into Supplemental Draft

"His application carries with it a lot of issues," an NFL source told ESPN. "Core of the game integrity issues."

Sorsby isn't going to go down without a fight as he looks to play in the NFL this season, as his attorney Jeffrey Kessler also told ESPN that the NFL's decision not to hold a supplemental draft "is a violation of the CBA and the law. We will pursue this immediately with the NFLPA."

Earlier this year, Sorsby admitted to placing approximately $90,000 in bets and had his reinstatement to college football denied by the NCAA.

A judge briefly cleared the way for him to play in 2026, but with his legal team dropping the lawsuit, that window has closed. Sorsby now intends to pursue a career in the NFL, pending league approval of his application.

The NFL sent Sorsby a letter explaining why they came to their decision, including saying he and his legal team, "Your Petition -- filed three business days before the deadline, without any supporting information or documentation, and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCAA sanctions -- does not provide a basis for the League to alter those plans."

Unless a miracle happens, one of college football's best quarterbacks will be riding the bench and will have no one to blame but himself.
