Post-draft moves that could make or break the Steelers, Cowboys, and Bears in 2025

The influx of drafted players has reshaped roster needs, potentially making some veterans expendable. Meanwhile, a few teams left key needs unaddressed, raising questions about how they should move forward.

DAZN News outlines one key move the Steelers, Cowboys, and Bears need to make post-draft to maximise their chances of success in 2025.

Aaron Rodgers to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Less than two months ago, the Steelers boasted two viable starting quarterbacks on their roster. The contracts of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields were expiring, but Pittsburgh remained optimistic about retaining the services of at least one of their signal-callers.

Within the space of three weeks, both quarterbacks departed for new pastures, leaving the Steelers short-handed at the most position in football. Pittsburgh had inked Mason Rudolph to a deal in the interim, but it was considered a depth move.

Owner Art Rooney II revealed during the draft that he's still optimistic about the possibility of signing free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rooney II and the Steelers stuck to their pre-draft strategy, waiting until the sixth round to select developmental prospect Will Howard — leaving the door wide open, and a major need still in place, for the potential signing of Rodgers.

The four-time MVP may not be the player he was in his prime, but he still represents the best — and possibly the only — chance for the Steelers to remain competitive in 2025.

Dallas Cowboys acquire a veteran wide receiver

The Cowboys lack an effective complement to CeeDee Lamb at wide receiver and did not select a wideout in the 2025 NFL Draft.

NFL insider Todd Archer reported that owner Jerry Jones intends to address their need by adding another player post-draft.

Among the potential options are Amari Cooper, Keenan Allen, or George Pickens, and the latter - while the most expensive - appears at a crossroads with his current team after reports the Steelers were open to trading him.

By trading for D.K. Metcalf in March, the Steelers have a contingency plan in place  — which may explain why, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Pickens was "more available than people think."

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys must find a way to balance the cost of retaining their current stars while making a move for a player like Pickens.

Chicago Bears address running back need

The Bears have spent the offseason reshaping their offense under new head coach and offensive mastermind Ben Johnson, using early draft picks on a wide receiver and tight end and making significant investments in their offensive line via free agency.

One position they haven't addressed is running back, where DeAndre Swift sits atop a middling group. Swift, while not a glaring weakness, still averaged only 3.8 yards per carry in 2024.

Adding a veteran like Nick Chubb would provide the Bears with an affordable difference-maker who could add some thunder to Chicago's backfield.

Seemingly intent on making an impact in 2025, Chubb dispelled any lingering doubts about his health following the devastating knee injury he suffered in 2023.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Chubb and his former team, the Cleveland Browns, were open to a reunion even after the franchise selected a running back in the second round.

However, it seems unlikely Chubb will return to Cleveland after the team added to their crowded backfield by drafting Dylan Sampson two rounds later.
