Dallas signed star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to a three-year, $105.9 million extension that runs through 2030.
The deal makes him the second-highest earner at the position on an annual basis, ranking behind only the Eagles' Jalen Carter.
"He represents everything that we want in a Dallas Cowboys football player," Cowboys COO/co-owner Stephen Jones said per the DallasCowboys.com website.
"He's not only a great football player, but he's a man, he's a leader who people in the locker room look to every day.
"I was just talking to Christian [Parker]; he's the best player out on the field."
With Williams expected to dominate upfront, and rookie Caleb Downs impressing out of the gate, Dallas' defense is primed to bounce back in 2026.
Detroit's offensive line reconstruction took a hit on Monday when center Cade Mays fractured a bone in his wrist.
NFL's Ian Rapoport reported that the injury is likely to keep him out somewhere between eight and ten weeks, just months after the Lions handed him $25 million over three years to take the job.
"He will be back in the season at some point," head coach Dan Campbell said per the team website. "It will be down the road."
Detroit have options, with Campbell mentioning Seth McLaughlin, Juice Scruggs and Tate Ratledge as potential replacements.
Many expected Omarion Hampton to take on a bell-cow role in 2026, but offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel's latest comments suggest a running-back-by-committee approach.
"I think they both have unique skills," McDaniel told reporters, speaking about Kimani Vidal and new arrival Keaton Mitchell. "They are both very high-quality players that can be entrusted with the ball."
He then appeared to do a full 180 on Hampton's outlook, explaining, "I think there's going to be an opportunity for him to have a ton of touches."
But then he doubled down on his earlier position, adding, "I like to have backs be fresh, just because I think it's a competitive advantage against a defense that's not subbing out."
Smoke and mirrors? We'll have to wait and see.
With 1,838 all-purpose yards and 12 total touchdowns last year, Achane's numbers ranked among the league's most productive running backs.
To hear Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley talk about the backfield dynamo on the Rich Eisen Show, that might be just the tip of the iceberg.
Clearly a tongue-in-cheek comment, Hafley won't be handing Achane the ball 40 times per game, but his comments do underscore how much faith he has in his running back.
Achane to the moon in 2026.
