Ty Simpson and De'Zhaun Stribling are turning heads at camp

With the 2026 NFL season now less than three weeks away, here are five first-year players who have shined at camp.

Ty Simpson, QB, Los Angeles Rams

Simpson had his dream NFL debut last Saturday against the Chiefs, with two touchdowns and 190 yards, turning heads in his direction.

The rookie from Alabama has grabbed everyone's attention after being one of the most controversial picks in the NFL Draft.

Sean McVay was all praise for Simpson after the game.

“I thought he took what the defense gave him,” said McVay. “I thought he read the plays out, read with his feet. I thought he did a really good job overall,"

De'Zhaun Stribling, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Good news for 49ers fans: while Mike Evans is still recovering from injury, his replacement may be a future star in San Francisco.

Stribling excelled during his debut against the Titans with seven carries and 63 receiving yards, while also getting some throws from Brock Purdy in practice.

The Niners rookie has shown great potential through training camp and will be a big asset for the injury-prone team.

Blake Miller, OT, Detroit Lions

Miller earned the highest-graded preseason debut among all first-round rookie offensive tackles by PFF with a 66.6.

Even though it ended with a loss, the Clemson graduate was 'lightly' praised by Dan Campbell after the game against the Bengals.

"I didn’t feel like my eyes were ever on he or Larry (Borom), and that’s a positive. I thought — that means, that’s a pretty good sign." Said Campbell.

Arvell Reese, LB, New York Giants

The rookie from Ohio State has been getting praise from John Harbaugh after a promising debut against the Vikings last Saturday.

With the highest defensive grade among first-round rookies this season (88.2), the linebacker might be able to help the Giants' weak defensive line.

"Yeah, I thought Arvell played really well. I really didn't see anything I didn't like. I don't think anybody felt that way," Said Harbaugh. "The one thing we probably had a problem with was he tried to put himself back in the game."

David Bailey, EDGE, New York Jets

The second overall pick has been showcasing his abilities in camp this week after a short but hopeful debut at MetLife Stadium.

Bailey suffered from a minor ankle injury two weeks ago that turned out to be nothing serious.

Already an early DRPOY contender, Bailey's game has high hopes of helping the Jets defense.
