Many people feel Whittaker (11-0-1, 8 KOs) is the future of the sport in the light heavyweight division with his charisma and fighting style inside the ring. But Rivera (27-2, 20 KOs) has been holding up his end of the bargain during the buildup, including at Thursday's press conference, as he dressed like an American Patriot.
Whittaker let Rivera know that he can dress and say whatever he wants. But at the end of the day, when it's all said and done, Whittaker let Rivera know how the fight is going to go.
"The fight can go any way I want it to go," Whittaker said at the presser. "I prepare for anything in that ring. I’ve seen some chinks in his armour. He’s talking about wanting to knock me out. That sounds like music to my ears. Because the way he comes forward, he’s going to get clipped with something sweet."
Rivera's been extremely confident since the fight was announced. While the fight hype has been centered on Whittaker, Rivera's made two different plans on how he plans on derailing the Whittaker train.
"Like I said before, Plan A is to knock him out. Plan B is we are just going to beat him up," Rivera said.
