Whittaker books Wallace final eliminator for October

Ben Whittaker will bid to book a light-heavyweight title shot when he faces Conor Wallace in an IBF eliminator in Birmingham.
'The Surgeon' will face wthe Irish-born Australian on Saturday, October 3 at the city's Utilita Arena, live worldwide on DAZN.
Whittaker, who most recently dispatched Richard Rivera inside two rounds on his stateside debut, is in the form of his pro life.
Now, he will try to line up a crack at the belt currently held by Dmitry Bivol with a West Midlands homecoming against Wallace.
“I am delighted to be bringing a big night back to Birmingham again after a successful trip," Whittaker confirmed in a statement.
"This is a proper step up on my way to becoming world champion. I’m excited to put on a special performance for you all again."
Since penning terms with Matchroom Boxing last year, Whittaker has been on a run of rapid-fire results to underline his position.
The Tokyo 2020 medalist has beaten Benjamin Gavazi, Braian Suarez and Rivera inside a combined four rounds in the last year.
