On Saturday night in Las Vegas, two new faces headline a Cinco de Mayo fight night. 

After becoming a destructive force at light heavyweight, David Benavidez attempts to become a three-weight world champion against WBA and WBO cruiserweight titleholder Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez.

This contest presents an intriguing clash of styles.

Benavidez opts for all action, meeting his opponents in the middle of the ring and unloads. Ramirez meanwhile prefers to showcase his boxing skills and fight smart. 

With Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez coming towards the end of his career, either Benavidez or Ramirez could be the fighters to become the new face of this Mexican celebration in the fight capital of the world. 

Inoue faces Nakatani in biggest fight in Japanese boxing history

One country which will get to see two of their best fighters meet in their prime is Japan. 

This Saturday, undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue meets Junto Nakatani at a sold out Tokyo Dome. 

It's no secret that this is the biggest fight in Japanese boxing history. Both men are putting their unbeaten records on the line in a legacy defining fight. 

Inoue will be the favourite as a result of his knockout power, and the fact that Nakatani struggled in his debut at 122lbs against Sebastian Hernandez last December.

However, Nakatani and his team will have worked out what caused those issues last time out, and prepared appropriately for what will be a seismic moment in Japanese boxing history. 

West Midlands derby between Waker and Eggington

Wolverhampton's Civic Hall hosts a West Midlands derby this weekend when Conah Walker goes head-to-head with Sam Eggington. 

This welterweight main event is guaranteed fireworks. 

Eggington is rarely involved in a boring fight, while Walker showcased his knockout power with a final round demolition job on Pat McCormack in December. 

There may be no major titles attached, but this fight does not need it. There is too much local pride at stake for both men which should provide an unmissable contest with an electric atmosphere. 

Nicolson's final hurdle before world title shot

This week's stacked boxing schedule gets underway on Wednesday when Skye Nicolson defends her WBC interim super bantamweight title against Mariah Turner in Melbourne. 

For Nicolson, this is a chance to further stake her claim for a world title fight this year, and she will be looking to put on a show at The Melbourne Pavilion. 

If Nicolson does manage to get the win, then a showdown with undisputed champion Ellie Scotney becomes a real possibility, and it already feels like the pair are on ain inevitable collision course. 

Munguia goes for world title gold

After falling short against Canelo Alvarez two years ago, Mexico's Jaime Munguia has a second chance of winning a world title at 168lbs. 

On the undercard of Benavidez-Ramirez in Las Vegas, Munguia will face WBA super middleweight champion Armando Resendiz.

Munguia is by far the more experienced fighter, but Resendiz is someone who has been learning with every passing fight, and is ready to add the biggest scalp to his career so far. 

This should be an exciting co-main event at the T-Mobile Arena.
