The Ipswich man showed plenty of resilience despite being outboxed for the majority of the contest on his home turf. His astonishing finish reminding us why we love this sport and why you can never take your eyes off it.
However, he is not the first person to turn a fight around with one punch in the closing stages.
Here, DAZN News looks back at some memorable late turnarounds
Julio Cesar Chavez WTKO12 Meldrick Taylor – 1990
The best fight of 1990 saw the arguably most dramatic ending in boxing history as Julio Cesar Chavez preserved his unbeaten record with one second remaining.
The Mexican icon had been outclassed throughout the bout and was miles behind on two scorecards, but a last round rally hurt Taylor and although he looked okay to continue.
However, referee Richard Steele, the man closest to the action, disagreed and called the fight leading to wild celebrations and protests from opposite corners.
George Foreman KO10 Michael Moorer – 1994
Michael Moorer had it easy for the bulk of his world title defence against George Foreman as he used his advantages in speed and youth to build a healthy lead against the wily veteran.
Despite being well behind with the ringside judges, Foreman knew he only needed one shot to end the contest, and he miraculously found it in round number ten to become heavyweight champion against massive odds.
Derry Mathews WTKO10 Tommy Coyle – 2013
When Derry Mathews travelled to Hull to face local favourite, Tommy Coyle, he could not have expected just how hard a night it was going to be as he was largely dominated from the opening bell.
In the tenth session, the fight was beginning to look unconformable as Coyle repeatedly caught the Liverpool man until a punch from out of nowhere heavily floored Coyle.
He rose to his feet, but the damage had been done by Mathews and the referee had no choice but to call the fight off.

The first crisis of Carl Froch’s illustrious career came in 2009 when he failed to get to grips when defending his WBC super-middleweight title against Jermain Taylor.
The American dropped Froch early then proceeded to win the majority of their exchanges.That all changed in the final session when the Nottingham fighter hurt Taylor and did not stop punching until the stoppage came with only 14 seconds remaining.

Audley Harrison WKO12 Michael Sprott
Audley Harrison needed something from the heavens to rescue his European title chance against Michael Sprott and that is exactly what he found as his first meaningful punch of the fight ended the contest immediately.
Victory for Harrison was set to land him a world title shot against David Haye. That result appeared impossible at the start of the final session, but Harrison refused to wilt and a moment’s lapse from the brilliant Sprott cost him a second win over the 2000 Olympic gold medallist.
