'No-one has seen me at a hundred percent!' - Hall ready to fire on Fury

"This is the thing," he says, a gym-jug of what appears to be cranberry juice in hand. "No-one has seen me at a hundred percent."

It is a vaguely terrifying thought. Six-foot-three and almost as wide when up close and personal, the 38-year-old looks in good nick.

The 2017 World's Strongest Man though insists there is more to come from him in the boxing ring - especially against Tommy Fury .

Misfits has always taken an interest in what Hall dubs "circus fights". Even by their standards though, this latest one is quite a doozy.

In one corner, you have an unbeaten pro star with a blue-chip pedigree name, born into the fighting game and seeking another scalp.

Then in the other, you have a man who made his reputation as a deadlift monster, a hulking figure-turned-pop culture breakout player.

"I haven't been born into any family, not into money," Hall tells DAZN News . "Nothing I do has been handed to me. No coach, no funding."

He gestures with a hand, sweeps it around the room. "This is all self-made. Everything I do is all self-made. That's where I've come from."

'I blew my left bicep off'

This weekend, Hall hopes to give a greater account of his nascent abilities. Never shy of a challenge, he is throwing himself into the deep end.

What does he mean that people are yet to see him at full capacity though? He gives a wry, almost gentle grin. "I had to fight in the wrong stance."

He is referring to his one prior full bout, with fellow strongman Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, back in 2021. Hall was dropped twice and lost by decision.

Why was he in the wrong stance? He gestures to his arms. "I blew my left bicep off, five months before the fight. I couldn't use my arm at all.

"So that's the only full fight people have seen, and I could only use fifty percent of my assets. That would be unfair to judge me on, against Thor."

There have been no injuries this time, no niggles that Hall has disclosed at the very least. He hopes that it allows him to showcase his abilities.

"All limbs are intact, there's no muscles hanging off," he says. "I'm fit, feeling ready. It's a fight that might last longer than twenty-five seconds."

Certainly, it is the realisation of another unique chapter in a life that seems to keep on giving for the star, reinvented in retirement as a viral star.

"Winning the World's Strongest Man, that's led on to adventures and opportunities like this," he muses. "It's proving that you can shine through."

'You can break the mould'

Hall speaks more softly than his appearance may suggest, contemplative on his career. On his roots though, he grows more readily passionate.

"I feel like I'm always representing myself, representing the people," he notes. "We're a hard-working nation, and most of us are working class.

"That's where I've come from, and that's what I like to represent. I'm the average hard-working man that managed to break free, break that mould.

He pauses, and stares into the distance, before he continues. "I guess my legacy would be proving you can break the mould, that hard work pays off.

"Keep your head down, keep focused, and you can achieve great things. That keeps your mental health good, and hopefully you do something good."

Hall will hope to do something else good when he returns to the AO Arena, an old stomping ground from his strongman days - hand Fury a first loss.

First and foremost though, he's hoping that whoever has their finger on the PA manages to get his ringwalk music right this time, after a few false starts.

"It's not very difficult to pick," he grins. "I'm coming out to [The White Stripes']  Seven Nation Army . I like that beat. It sets me up like walking into a battle."

He laughs. "Well, hopefully it's  Seven Nation Army ! Sometimes I've asked them for it, and they've gone and played something else!"
