Eddie Hearn: Jaron 'Boots' Ennis is going to put on 'one of the greatest performances from an American fighter'

Ever since Jaron 'Boots' Ennis first fight under the Matchroom Boxing banner, a fifth-round knockout over David Avanesyan in July 2024, chairman Eddie Hearn has believed the Philadelphia native is the future of American and will be the pound-for-pound number one.
A little under two years later, Hearn's proclamation could ring true tonight when Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs) challenges WBA/WBO super welterweight champion Xander Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., live and exclusively on DAZN PPV.

Hearn spoke first at Thursday's presser featuring Zayas and Ennis. The promoter was gushing about his fighter to the point where he believes Ennis is going to put on an epic performance that will have people talking for a long time.
"What you are about to see on Saturday night is one of the greatest performances from an American that I think you have ever witnessed," Hearn exclaimed. "I cannot tell you the excitement that exists within the team. The smile that's been on this guy's face [Ennis] all week. This is the moment. This is the moment he's dreamed of his whole life. To show you and everybody in the world how great he is. This is a massive moment for Jaron Ennis."
Hearn knows what he's got in the dynamic former unified welterweight champion, who has been perceived as one of the 'boogeymen' of boxing. He believes all the hard work will pay off in spades on fight night.
"It all comes together on Saturday night. It's only the beginning because he's racing all the way to pound-for-pound number one in the sport. Saturday is just the beginning to show the world how great he is. No disrespect to Xander Zayas. What a fighter. 58-0 between these two. But on Saturday night, you are going to see the future of the sport of boxing. This is going to be one of the most clinical, brutal displays we have ever witnessed."
