Lopez locks out new division

The heavy favourite before stepping onto the canvas at the T-Mobile Arena, Lopez was chasing a swift return to winning ways here.

Smarting from his defeat against Shakur Stevenson in January, the star picked up a majority decision to take his third division crown.

Now, the star will have an eye on Ryan Garcia's WBC defence against Conor Benn - and will be itching to earn a shot at the winner.

Romero left to rue missed chance

Having stunned Garcia last May to earn the crown, it was a second underdog role for Romero here - and he will be left to wonder too.

A fifth round where he wobbled Lopez with a massive blow felt like the moment where he could have pushed harder for the kill here.

But ultimately, he found himself outgunned when it mattered most, and despite hopes for a rematch, will now leave empty-handed here.

Fury-Joshua on the ropes?

Just what is going on with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua? Nobody seems to know - and it does feel like time is running out on the bout.

One of boxing's great white whales could remain uncaptured unless all parties and powerbrokers can come to settle on a venue for good.

The sticking point remains over plans to take it abroad. Will matters find a resolution? Matchroom's Frank Smith admits it is a crucial week.

Liddard underlines credentials

Back across the Atlantic Ocean in London, George Liddard made the most of his latest test to stop Dario Morello at the Copper Box Arena.

The latter retired after eight rounds of punishment, putting the Briton firmly on the path towards a shot at middleweight world level in 2027.

Liddard already has his eye on an all-domestic dust-up too, with WBO champion Denzel Bentley firmly in his crosshairs for an encounter.

Serrano misses knockout record

Amanda Serrano brought up a half-century of victories with her win over Lucrecia Manzur last week - but missed out on a bigger prize too.

The star has been set on dethroning Christy Martin's record for the most knockouts in women's boxing outright, with the scores still tied.

But Manzur refused to be bowed, going the distance and leaving Serrano with likely one last chance in a mooted 2027 farewell clash instead.
