Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Logan Paul: Rules and regulations for exhibition fight

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Logan Paul exhibition was never going to be a traditional fight.

Now we know just how unusual it will be.

The planned bout that features 50-0 boxing legend Mayweather taking on YouTuber Paul is controversial at best, but news of the official rules will surely get more people talking about the contest — good or bad — that's set to take place Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium near Miami, Florida.

On Wednesday, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation shared the rules for Sunday's bout with ESPN.

Here's what we know:

No winner and no judges

Perhaps the biggest news is that there won't be a winner declared at the end of the fight. As such, there's no need for judges, either.

Knockouts allowed

Even with no official winner, there could still be a stoppage. This could either come by knockout, which is legal, or at the referee's discretion.

Three-minute rounds

The fight will go for a maximum of eight rounds, each lasting up to three minutes.

10 oz. gloves, no headgear

Mayweather and Paul will each be outfitted with 10-ounce gloves, but neither man will be wearing headgear during the bout.

Weight limits

The reason the fight is an exhibition instead of an official match is due to the vast weight difference between the two men. However, there will still be limits set, as Paul, 26, revealed this week that he'll have to step into the ring at a maximum of 190 pounds, or face a $100,000 fine for every pound he goes over.

By contrast, Mayweather — known as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of all time — is expected to tip the scales at 160 lbs on Sunday, which would be a career high for the 44-year-old.
