Two-year ban issued to Rodriguez Jr after Yafai drama

Francisco Rodriguez Jr has been for two years following a doping violation.
The Mexican will be unable to compete in World Anti-Doping Code-compliant sports after Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) for the presence and use of prohibited substances in his bout with Galal Yafai on June 21 2025.
Rodriguez Jr won the bout via a unanimous decision after dishing out serious punishment to the previously unbeaten Yafai over 12 rounds and relieving the latter of his WBC interim flyweight title in the process.
The victor produced a post-fight urine sample which returned Adverse Analytical Findings (AAFs) for the prohibited substances octodrine and its metabolite, heptaminol, in addition to an AAF for oxilofrine.
Octodrine is used in pre-workout and fat-burning supplements, heptaminol is a cardiac stimulant; and oxilofrine is a sympathomimetic stimulant with performance-enhancing properties.
Rodriguez Jr’s ban is back dated to 30 July 2025 and will expire at 11:59pm on 29 July 2027. His victory over Yafai is now automatically disqualified.
Yafai hasn't fought since but will clash with Ricardo Sandoval for his WBC 112-pound title later this year after Matchroom Boxing won a purse bid to stage the bout.
