The judges did it again: Kambosos won, but Hughes took the applause

George Kambosos was looking for the road to redemption and found Englishman Maxi Hughes to remind him that he still has a long way to go.
On Saturday night in Oklahoma, despite a majority decision win, Kambosos showed his level and in the end, it was the judges who gave him the victory by scores of 114-114, 115-113, and 117-111.
"I'm devastated to hear the decision, I wasn't supposed to be in Kambosos' league. That I was coming to the wolf cave and I don't understand what happened. My game was better, I connected the cleanest punches. People know it, now they know who I am," said the English southpaw who appeared for the first time in the United States.
Kambosos had problems from the start not only because he was out of distance, he also looked tied up, as there were a few occasions in which he released his fists to push Hughes back.
Despite not having the ideal power, Hughes did his homework and showed he had studied the former champion, as many times he connected with dangerous uppers that left him frozen.
Both suffered cuts to the face in the middle rounds of the fight, but good corner work helped them to move forward.
With this victory, Kambosos not only returned to the winning ways, he also won the International Boxing Federation eliminator and assured that he intends to come back much stronger.
Davis did the job
Keyshawn Davis drops Francesco Patera and easily wins unanimous decision in the co-feature fight.
Although Davis dropped the European champion in the eighth round, and landed more than enough power punches, for the first time in his career, he went 10 rounds.
The 24-year-old Davis improved to 9-0, 6 KOs and ended Patera’s 10-fight winning streak.
