Bilal Fawaz upset incumbent British super-welterweight champion Ishmael Davis in a taut encounter to take the Lonsdale Belt on Saturday night.
The former edged a narrow majority decision at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham to bring 'The Black Panther's reign to a close in his first defence.
Davis had enjoyed the brighter start as he sought to impose himself on the contest, but trailed off before the halfway mark, allowing his foe to thrive.
Many felt Fawaz had taken a wider decision than the scorecards reflected, but nevertheless, success for the 37-year-old will allow him to push on.
