Joshua Buatsi claimed a crucial victory for his future title hopes at light-heavyweight against Zach Parker on Saturday night in Manchester - but it was not without controversy.
The former, looking to get back on track after a first professional loss against Callum Smith, appeared destined to be on the wrong end of a lopsided decision after ten rounds.
But instead, the ex-WBO interim champion took a majority decision (95-95, 96-94, 96-94) from the judges, handing Parker only the second defeat of his own pro career.
Buatsi was critical of his opponent's tactics in the immediate aftermath, following a bout where his attempts to build up momentum were frequently stymied by clinches.
Nevertheless, despite boos and jeers at the result, the Rio 2016 star will now target the winner of David Benavidez and Anthony Yarde's WBC title bout later this month.
