Keys to Victory: What are the difference makers in Raymond Muratalla vs. Robson Conceicao?
Roach vs. Zepeda on DAZN - TONIGHT

It has already been a storied year for Raymond Muratalla who launched his 2026 campaign by defending his lightweight world championship with the best win of his career.

Muratalla will look to defend that IBF lightweight title again tonight when he clashes with Brazilian veteran Robson Conceicao at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, and live on DAZN. The bout will serve in chief support to the Lamont Roach Jr. vs. William Zepeda headliner.

The unbeaten Muratalla (24-0, 17 KOs) came on strong during championship rounds to eke out a majority decision over Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz in January to retain his title. Meanwhile, Conceicao (21-3-1, 10 KOs) enters this bout having rattled off two straight victories at lightweight, including the unanimous decision he tendered over Helber Rojas in April. The Brazilian fighter previously reigned as a super featherweight world champion and has fought the likes of Shakur Stevenson, O’Shaquie Foster twice and Emanuel Navarrete.

Will Muratalla continue his winning ways with another impressive title defense? Or will Conceicao shock the American by becoming the new IBF lightweight ruler? DAZN News examines the Keys to Victory for both fighters.

Raymond Muratalla’s Keys to Victory

Walk Conceicao down behind the jab

Taking control of the ring will immediately empower Raymond Muratalla to walk Robson Conceicao down further with the jab. Considering Muratalla has nearly three inches of reach advantage, the champion would be all the more aided to pepper Conceicao with the jab — upstairs and to the body. Doing this will help keep the Brazilian fighter on the back foot as Muratalla increases his forward-fighting pressure.

Catch Conceicao in traffic

Conceicao is more than willing to muddy up a fight on the inside, but it’s in that same phone booth where he’s liable to get erratic. That bodes well for Muratalla. If the champ can goad Conceicao into cramped quarters, he ought to look for a timed, sharp counter to catch the challenger in traffic.

Unload the hooks

Watch fight footage of Conceicao and the Brazilian literally covers his face with a high, tight guard. But that same defense allows opponents to sneak hooks around his gloves.

Muratalla must spot these sequences and pounce with hooks around the guard. If he can load up and sit on these shots, the champ will increase his chances of retaining his title resoundingly.

Robson Conceicao’s Keys to Victory

Dig to the body

Robson Conceicao will need to make a stand to Raymond Muratalla’s pressure and digging to the body just might be the inroads to do that.

This is something the Brazilian fighter already does well and will need to do better to build a successful front to Muratalla’s stalking.

Show more flexibility with the guard

Two gloves up to protect his face with a high, tight guard, Conceicao leaves too much room for opponents to wrap hooks around his defense.

In this title bout, Conceicao must show some flexibility and movement with his guard, so that he could better prepare for the arsenal Muratalla is going to throw at him. The challenger doesn’t do this and Muratalla will make him pay with stinging hooks around the guard.

Extend combinations

Far too often, Conceicao lands a hard one-two, but then stops to admire and emphasize his work. These are lost opportunities where the Brazilian can string together more punches to extend his combinations. Against a Muratalla who is going to press and smother ahead, Conceicao turning that one-two into a three- and four-punch combination will only increase his chances for the upset.

Who has the edge in Muratalla vs. Conceicao?

Analysis: DAZN News’ Mark Lelinwalla

Raymond Muratalla is really on the upswing and I don’t see Robson Conceicao with enough tools to pull off the upset. Muratalla’s blend of sweet science skills as a boxer/puncher, along with his preciseness and timing, should have him put together a unanimous decision win.
