Liam Cameron weathered some tough early rounds to outlast Troy Jones and secure a first win over four fights in a bruising light-heavyweight contest at Manchester's Co-op Live.
The Sheffield fighter looked to be on the back foot across the opening exchanges against the Birmingham-born star, and suffered a bloodied nose inside the first few rounds.
But after exploiting a swollen eye suffered by Jones, Cameron found his footing and delivered an improved workrate to ultimately swing a surprisingly wide unanimous decision.
Victory puts him back into the middle of a crowded domestic division and in pursuit of further glory, while his rival will be left to rue a loss of control in the championship rounds.
