Davies and Collins to meet in pivotal featherweight fight on September 26

Taking place on September 26, Collins will travel to Birmingham's bp pulse LIVE where Davies will have plenty of his Telford fanbase in attendance. 

Davies is high on confidence after retiring Francesco Grandelli to claim the vacant European featherweight title, and knows a win over Collins will force him into the world title picture.

A draw with Cristobal Lorente last October, followed by a split decision defeat to the same man six months later has led to questions as to whether the Scotsman is a true contender at the highest level. 

If he can beat Davies in enemy territory, then those doubts can be subdued and Collins can once again press on towards a world title shot. 

The undercard will feature another Midlands hero and fan favourite Nathan Heaney who seeks revenge against Gerome Warburton after losing to the Welshman in March, while super lightweight prospect Luke McCormack takes on Kay Prospere for the British super lightweight title.

For both Davies and Collins, this is a crossroads encounter. 

Win, and world title opportunities await, but lose, and there is little chance of competing at the top level. 

Davies has thrived since moving to featherweight last year, and against Grandelli, he showcased the punch power which can be the difference in matchups at 126lbs. 

Collins on the other hand shrank into his shell in the loss to Lorente earlier this year. He did little to trouble the Spaniard when previously his aggression had been the source of his success. 

The high stakes nature of this matchup should make for an exciting fight, and one which British boxing often delivers.
