Mario Barrios has given a clue to what his tactics may be when he takes on Ryan Garcia on Saturday.
The WBC welterweight champion defends his belt against Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in a bout live on DAZN PPV and Ultimate Tier.
Garcia is looking to bounce back from a decision defeat to Rolly Romero last May and the American superstar is still searching for his first world title.
Garcia gets another chance this weekend and, speaking exclusively to DAZN ahead of the highly-anticipated contest, Barrios suggested he may look to use his boxing skills against the challenger.
“Stylistically, I think this is going to be a very exciting fight,” said Barrios.
“You know, Garcia - he’s explosive, he’s dangerous, but on a boxing level, there’s no competing with this.
“I think I’m the better fighter and I am looking to go out there and show that on fight night.”
Barrios also reflected on his last contest against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
The pair went the full 12 rounds when they clashed in Las Vegas last July and although many observers felt Pacquiao had done enough to get the verdict, the bout was declared a majority draw on the scorecards.
Barrios insists he gained a lot from the experience and is looking to put that to good use this weekend.
“Being in the ring with a legend, it was a great experience. He’s definitely one of a kind.
“I took a lot from that fight, just being in there with someone with his timing, his skill, his speed – I’m going to use that in every way to grow as a fighter.”
