Queensberry continue flurry of August signings with addition of American teenage talent and Scottish sensation

Queensberry Promotions have continued to add to their boxing roster to start August, announcing the additions of American Elijah Lugo and Scot Marcus Sutherland.
Last week, Frank Warren’s promotion acquired big names in the form of Olympic gold medallist Tony Yoka and British light heavyweights Brad Rea and Joshua Buatsi, but Queensberry has shown no signs of slowing as they add two prospects to their ranks.
Lugo is an American teenager who turned professional in April after showing promise as an unpaid fighter. He has already fought three times stateside, winning each contest.
His most recent fight was stopped in the fifth round, knocking Marquis Williams to the canvas twice in a middleweight contest. Lugo’s older brother Nathan joined Queensberry in the summer of 2024, with the British promoter continuing the super-middleweight’s development with fights in the USA.
Queensberry have attempted to make strides in North American boxing in recent years, with Brandun Lee, Yandiel Lozano, and Abel Gonzalez all unbeaten fighters fighting under the banner of Warren’s promotion.
Sutherland featured on the undercard of a Queensberry card back in May. He stopped Dylan Nixon in the first round at the OVO Hydro Arena, a show headlined by Scottish boxing great Josh Taylor’s final fight, a defeat to Ekow Essuman.

The 20-year-old will feature on another Queensberry show in Scotland later this year, when Kynoch gymmate Nathaniel Collins takes on Spaniard Cristobal Lorente at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow this October, live on DAZN.
Sutherland was presented as a Queensberry fighter for the first time during the launch press conference for the card. Speaking at the event, the Scot commented: “Unbelievable, what an opportunity. It’s all a step in the right direction. I’m just happy to be here, building myself up at the start of my career on small hall shows, and now getting opportunities like this.
“To now be fighting on undercards, hopefully in years to come, I can headline shows like this.”
Promoter Warren himself tweeted about adding Sutherland to the Queensberry ranks, posting on Twitter: “Brilliant to sign Marcus to Queensberry! A special talent and part of a great group of Scottish fighters coming through on our October card.”
