Shawn Porter willing to 'put his life on the line' to knock out Errol Spence Jr.
Shawn Porter already predicted that he's going to knock out Errol Spence Jr. and hand him his first pro loss in their welterweight title unification bout Sept. 28.
Well, the WBC champion is doubling down on that forecast defiantly.
"I'm sure everybody's listening like, 'Errol Spence? Who's going to knock out Errol Spence?' I'm the one to do it. I'm the one to do it," Porter said during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Sway in the Morning."
"I'm the one to do it," he repeated for a third time, emphatically pronouncing each word. "I'm different. You've seen me time and time again. I'm just different. And I think it takes a special individual, a different individual that's willing to really just put his life on the line, put his hard work on the line, put my family on the line. I've been away from my child for weeks. I haven't seen him. I haven't talked to him for weeks. Do all that for that one moment."
For those doubting Porter (30-2-1, 17 KOs), the 31-year-old tried warning everyone that "I only have to be 100 percent one time, and I'm ready to be 100 percent."
Porter spoke with so much confidence that the host of the show, Sway Calloway, asked him to be ultra clear, "You believe you're going to knock out Errol Spence Jr.?"
To that, Porter once again didn't budge.
"One hundred percent," he said. "I believe I have what it takes to do everything to make him uncomfortable, everything to make this the fight that he's never expected, things that he's not prepared to do."
While Porter remains supremely confident, he should be hard-pressed to knock out the 29-year-old IBF champion (25-0, 21 KOs). Porter last earned a stoppage in April 2017, when he scored a TKO over Andre Berto. Following that bout, Porter has delivered three straight decision victories, including a split decision over Yordenis Ugas in March.
Porter's confidence on SiriusXM comes after he vowed to deliver "one of the most exciting knockouts of the year," while sitting across from Spence in their "PBC Face to Face" interview.
Of course, Spence is promising to deliver the same, telling Spence that "this fight ends in a spectacular knockout by me. I'm going to punish him."
