Victorious Richardson Hitchins prioritizes calling out this boxing star over facing Teofimo Lopez next

Hitchins, the IBF junior welterweight world champion, acknowledged Lopez, the WBO 140-pound titleholder, but prioritized another star in the division for his next fight, instead — none other than Devin Haney.

"I want the big fights," Hitchins began telling DAZN's Chris Mannix inside the ring at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

"After my last fight, I called Teofimo out right away," he continued, fresh off his first title defense. "Obviously, he got other plans so I don't know what's next but I'm looking here at the camera ...

"Devin Haney, f—k you, n—, let's fight!" Hitchins roared. "Devin Haney next! F—k Devin Haney and Bill Haney — p—s! New York, stand up! We here, baby."

It was a fiery callout following a surgically dominant performance from Hitchins who was levels above Kambosos, battering the Australian's body until a crippling liver shot left him crumpled on the canvas for an eighth-round TKO.

Haney seemingly responded to Hitchins by taking to his X social media account and offering:

But that does not mean a unification bout between Hitchins and Lopez cannot happen.

"Absolutely, unification, here we go," Lopez told Mannix about his level of interest in the fight moments after he and Hitchins embraced.

"Let me hear it, New York — ya'll want to see that fight?"

Upon hearing the crowd at the Theater at MSG cheer, Lopez said "I'm all about the people."

A Lopez-Hitchins' unification bout between two Brooklyn fighters would dazzle just as Hitchins vs. Haney would.

Which one is more likely to be made next remains to be seen.

But stemming from Saturday night's performance, Hitchins is in need of a greater challenge.

"Great performance from a young American champion," Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn said. "Time for him to get the big fights."
