Having conquered the super middleweight division, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez stepped up to light heavyweight to face WBA champion Dmitry Bivol in Las Vegas on May 7.
The fight was seen as the potential start to another run of championships at a higher weight class for the Mexican superstar, but Bivol had other ideas. In what was perhaps the most stunning upset in years, Bivol put on a performance for the ages against his vaunted opponent, keeping Canelo on the defensive throughout much of the bout and imposing his own style onto the match.
What resulted was one of the most compelling fights of 2022 as Bivol bested one of the sport's active greats and created one of boxing's most talked-about moments in recent memory.
