When did Australia and Bangladesh last play a Test?
The most recent Test between Australia and Bangladesh took place in September 2017 in Chattogram.
Australia won that match by seven wickets to level the two-match series 1-1.
Bangladesh made 305 in their first innings before Australia responded with 377. The hosts were then dismissed for 157, leaving Australia a target of 86 to win.
The tourists reached 87-3 to secure victory and avoid a first Test series defeat against Bangladesh.
It remains the most recent Test meeting between the countries heading into their 2026 series.
Bangladesh's historic Test victory over Australia
Bangladesh's only Test victory against Australia came just days earlier during the opening match of the 2017 series in Dhaka.
The hosts scored 260 in their first innings before bowling Australia out for 217 to establish a 43-run advantage.
Bangladesh then made 221 second time around, setting Australia a target of 265.
Australia reached 158-2 and appeared well placed to take control of the chase, but Bangladesh fought back to dismiss the visitors for 244 and complete a famous 20-run victory.
It remains Bangladesh's only Test win against Australia.
The result also ensured the 2017 series finished level after Australia responded by winning the second Test.
What happened when Bangladesh last toured Australia?
Bangladesh's 2026 visit is their first Test tour of Australia since 2003, making this year's series a particularly rare occasion.
Their first tour began in Darwin, which will once again stage the opening Test this year.
Australia dominated the 2003 series.
The hosts won the first Test in Darwin by an innings and 132 runs after Bangladesh were bowled out for 97 and 178.
Australia then won the second Test in Cairns by an innings and 98 runs to complete a 2-0 series victory.
That means Bangladesh are still searching for their first Test victory against Australia on Australian soil.
