United States President Donald Trump to attend LIV Golf event in Miami

Trump has been a strong supporter of LIV Golf and has appeared at two of the previous three LIV events at Doral. In 2022 he played in the Pro-Am, playing nine holes with Brooks Koepka and nine with Sergio Garcia in a group that included his son, Eric and granddaughter, Kai Trump.

It is not known if he will again pick up the clubs and compete this week.

If, as expected, he attends on Thursday, it will be his first appearance at the event as a sitting president.

LIV Golf Miami will see 54 players compete over three rounds on Doral's Blue Monster course, across Friday to Sunday. They will be battling for prize pot of $25m, now potentially under the watchful eye of the US leader.

For many of LIV's stars it is the perfect chance to hone their form ahead of the 2025 Masters at Augusta

In total, 12 LIV players will head to the historic major. Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm, Charl Schwartzel, Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson qualify as past winners of the competition.

Meanwhile Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau have all won majors since 2022, securing their spot in the field. Joaquin Niemann has been handed a special invite and Tyrrell Hatton finished in the top ten last year.

Trump will be making his ninth trip to South Florida since his inauguration for his second term, managing to get a round in each time, although he has not managed to get to Doral as yet. 

The 45th and 47th US President is a sports fanatic and became the first sitting President to attend the NFL Super Bowl earlier this year, witnessing Philadelphia Eagles beat Kansas City Chiefs.
