The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs have come down to the Final Four.
The Western Conference Finals are underway, and now Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals begins on Thursday as the No. 1 seed, the Carolina Hurricanes, take on the Montreal Canadiens.
Since the Stanley Cup Playoffs went to a four-round best-of-seven series in 1987, the Hurricanes are the first team to sweep the first two rounds. Carolina outscored their first two opponents, the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers, 24-10.
The Canadiens do have an advantage in the Eastern Conference Finals as they went 3-0-0 against the Hurricanes during the regular season. Montreal beat Carolina by a combined score of 15-8. They are the youngest team out of the four left in the postseason.
