Only seven teams have clinched playoff spots, and five teams have been eliminated, including the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers.
Who is in the postseason and on the outside looking in?
Eight teams from the Eastern and Western Conferences make it into the postseason with a chance to capture the Stanley Cup. Each team has fewer than 10 games left in the regular season, which ends on April 16. So, there isn't much time left to go.
Currently in the Eastern Conference, there are five teams still alive looking to catch the eighth-seeded Philadelphia Flyers (39-26-12, 90 pts).In the West, only the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild have clinched playoff spots. There are four teams within seven points of the eighth-seeded Nashville Predators (36-31-10, 82pts).
