Masvidal is an American former UFC fighter and the founder of Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Masvidal began his professional MMA career in 2003 after previously becoming known for competing in street fights.

He competed across several promotions before joining the UFC in 2013, eventually becoming one of the organisation's biggest stars.

Masvidal finished his professional MMA career with a 35-17 record, including 16 victories by knockout.

Masvidal's career reached another level during a remarkable run in 2019.

After knocking out Darren Till in London, Masvidal faced the previously unbeaten Ben Askren at UFC 239.

The fight lasted just five seconds.

Masvidal sprinted across the Octagon immediately after the opening bell and caught Askren with a flying knee, recording the fastest knockout in UFC history.

Later that year, Masvidal faced Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden.

Masvidal won the fight by doctor's stoppage after three rounds to become the UFC's inaugural BMF champion.

His rise subsequently earned him two opportunities to challenge Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight championship.

Masvidal announced his retirement from MMA following his defeat to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in Miami in April 2023.

Masvidal has remained heavily involved in combat sports through Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA.

The promotion takes its name from Masvidal's famous "Gamebred" nickname and combines bare-knuckle fighting with the wider ruleset of mixed martial arts.

Unlike bare-knuckle boxing, fighters are able to kick, grapple, score takedowns and attempt submissions. Gamebred fights operate under the Unified Rules of MMA, with the major difference being that competitors do not wear gloves.

Gamebred is currently staging heavyweight and lightweight World Grand Prix tournaments, with the winner of each tournament set to receive $500,000.
