Itauma unfazed by title shot

Moses Itauma insists that he is unfazed by the added weight of an IBF heavyweight title shot against Filip Hrgovic later on this month.

Originally due to meet in a routine glamour division clash, the pair will not fight for the vacant title after Frank Sanchez stepped aside.

But speaking on a media round table, the Briton stated he "didn't really have any feeling about" his promotion to a strap opportunity.

"I was taking Hrgovic seriously, and now that the fight's for a world title, I'm still taking him seriously," he said. "It’s the same fight isn’t it?”

Haney-Paro off table for now

Devin Haney's hunt for a welterweight bout continues, with suggestions Liam Paro is off the table due to his heavy financial demands.

The American had been eyeing a potential unification bout with the Australian, who took the IBF strap from Lewis Crocker back in June.

But journalist Julius Julianis suggests the WBO champion will pass instead, with Jack Catterall now next in line to face the star instead.

Haney has faced frustrations in his attempts to secure his next fight, having seen Keyshawn Davis pass as his mandatory challenger.

Callum Simpson can showcase his improvement against Troy Williamson, with new trainer Rob McCracken backing his star to impress.

The pair meet at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds this evening, with plenty at stake as they seek to leave their respective marks.

“He's got ability, got good technical ability,” McCracken was quoted by The Ring on Simpson. “He's just got to do things at the right time.

"He can be more composed. He can move his feet in and out a little bit more. I've known Troy for a long time. I think both fighters are excellent.”
