Sir David Beckham welcomes England team to Miami ahead of Norway crunch match
Sir David Beckham spoke to England’s players on the eve of their crunch World Cup quarter-final against Norway.
Thomas Tuchel’s men take on the Scandinavians in Saturday’s eagerly anticipated last-eight encounter in the Miami heat at Hard Rock Stadium.
England landed in Florida on Friday and trained that afternoon at the facilities of Inter Miami – the Major League Soccer side co-owned by Beckham.
The 51-year-old star was in attendance for the session in Fort Lauderdale and the former skipper spoke to players in the gym before they took to the field.
Beckham, who won 115 caps for his country, watched the session and has been at a number of their World Cup matches this summer.
The Manchester United and England great has been a game-changer for MLS since swapping Real Madrid for the LA Galaxy in 2007.
That unique deal gave Beckham the option to purchase an expansion club at a discounted price, leading to the foundation of Inter Miami.
There have been bumps in the road since the team’s first season in 2020 but the arrival of Lionel Messi helped drive them to new heights.
