DAZN FACE OFF sparks near-boilover between Hutchinson and Taylor

The two light-heavyweights will meet on the latest Magnificent Seven card from Queensberry Promotions at Manchester’s Co-op Live, on Saturday, March 28, live on DAZN PPV.

The pair had a memorable exchange in front of the TV cameras when both were ringside at the same venue to see Joshua Buatsi beat Zach Parker in November, and they picked up where they left off in their latest meeting.

A former WBO interim light-heavyweight challenger, Hutchinson (19-2, 14 KOs) is looking to get back into the big-time and build on his seventh-round stoppage victory over Mark Jeffers when last seen in October.

Taylor is less experienced, but he is unbeaten in 13 fights and gets this opportunity after halting Steed Woodhall on his latest outing in October.

The pair engaged in some intense verbal sparring ahead of their showdown later in the month, and Hutchinson had some strong words for his opponent as things got pretty heated between the two.

“This man is a pretender,” said Hutchinson.

“You’re not a pretender of boxing – you’re doing whatever – but you’re pretending yourself, believing you can beat me. You’re in daydream land.

“I’m sorry, but it’s the honest truth, that’s how it is.”

Taylor praised Hutchinson for his win over Craig Richards but didn’t hold back when it came to critiquing his opponent.

Taylor replied: “I’ll tell you what you’re good at and I’ll tell you what you’re bad at, and what you’re bad at, right now, is overlooking someone life myself.

“You haven’t been round Ezra Taylor, Willy Hutchinson, what are you talking about? And you haven’t fought anyone like me.

“You haven’t fought no undefeated fighter that’s come up, remember you’re coming into my weight category. I came into this game at light-heavyweight. You came in at super-middleweight and got a bit lazy.

“You talk about life, right? Life must have gobbled you up because you thought, ‘you know what, I can’t shift these pounds’.”

This chief support to Moses Itauma vs. Jermaine Franklin is shaping up to be a cracker, and it isn’t a show you want to miss.
