When the lineups were released for Aston Villa's UEFA Super Cup final clash with PSG, there was concern that the contest would be a mismatch.
Luis Enrique made a statement by selecting a near-full-strength side containing Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doué and Vitinha while Unai Emery's team looked a steep downgrade on the one that lifted the Europa League title just months ago.
With Johan Manzambi, Ollie Watkins and Amadou Onana among the absentees, teenagers George Hemmings and Brian Madjo stepped up, with the latter making his debut for the West Midlands club.
What ensued was anything but a mismatch, with the Villans going toe-to-toe with the best club side in world football, and they were a tad unlucky not to take the game past 90 minutes.
Indeed, Madjo stole the headlines in Salzburg and is the name on everyone's lips after a stellar night, but who is Aston Villa's 17-year-old prodigy?
From Luxembourg with love
Madjo was born in Enfield, London, roughly 10 miles away from Wembley Stadium.
However, at age two, his family moved to Luxembourg, where he developed as a footballer before signing for French outfit Metz aged 14.
Before he had even made a senior club appearance, the forward made several appearances for Luxembourg at youth level before receiving three senior caps.
Madjo was given the nod by his manager Stéphane Le Mignan on the opening day of the 2025/26 season against RC Strasbourg, starting two successive league games before being benched.
His international career took a key pivot as he switched allegiances to England, scoring on his debut for the under-17s against Venezuela in a friendly in September 2025.
The teenager followed that up with three more goals in eight matches, establishing himself as a key threat while catching the eye of Villa.

The striker left Metz for Villa Park in January, and his arrival in the West Midlands was pretty low-key, with just three paragraphs afforded on Villa's official website and no quotes from his new manager on his abilities.
Given he is in the early stages of his career, such a lack of hype is understandable, especially as he left Metz with five appearances to his name and no senior goals.
Madjo was then unable to represent Villa at any level as FIFA treated his move as an international transfer of a minor due to the fact that he had made three senior appearances for Luxembourg.
The West Midlands club took the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in early August and won their case, but they could not have imagined the immediate impact he would make just over a week later.

Madjo makes Super Cup statement against PSG
Making your debut in the Super Cup final against a defence containing Achraf Hakimi, Pacho, Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes would be petrifying, unless your name is Brian Madjo.
The 17-year-old caused the French champions problems throughout the first half, taking up several dangerous positions, and had multiple chances before finding the back of the net just before half-time.
Indeed, the six shots he attempted in his 72-minute debut were more than any player on the pitch, while he hit the woodwork and boasted eight touches in the opposition box, according to Fotmob.
Madjo competed physically with PSG's stellar defence, with his movement particularly encouraging as he found space in the penalty area even if he could not convert.
The teenager took his goal well, reacting to John McGinn's cross superbly to make him the youngest scorer in Super Cup history.
“He was absolutely fantastic," said McGinn.
“It would have been very easy for him to let his head get down after the missed chances, but good strikers continue to get themselves in good positions.
“He's going to be a big player for us this season.”
While it might be too soon for Madjo to be a regular starter at Villa Park, he has given his manager plenty to ponder ahead of the new season, and with the club competing on all fronts, he is bound to be of use.
With concern about Harry Kane's England successor growing, it is encouraging to see a young Englishman flourish against a world-class defence.
