Charlie Caton at the double as Accrington edge past Crawley
Charlie Caton scored a double to take his tally to four for the season as Accrington celebrated their first win of the campaign with a 3-2 victory over Crawley.
Stanley opened the scoring on four minutes when striker Caton got the ball on the edge of the six-yard box and smashed it into the roof of the net.
Crawley grew into the game and levelled after 20 minutes when Danilo Orsi pounced on a loose ball in the area and fired home from close range.
Stanley retook the lead in the 55th minute when Liam Coyle’s ball into the box was flicked up in the air and Caton headed home, almost on the goalline.
They made it three after 63 minutes when a Josh Woods cross was fired home by Devon Matthews from close range.
Ade Adeyemo hit the crossbar for Crawley after 75 minutes and they got one back after 79 minutes when Kellan Gordon’s cross was converted into the bottom corner by Pemi Aderoju.
Town pressed for the equaliser but Stanley held on.
