World Cup final winners set to receive 'Super Bowl' style rings

Spain and defending champions Argentina meet at the New York/New Jersey Stadium in what will likely be Lionel Messi's final World Cup match. 

When it comes to the rings themselves, 30 will be made for the newly crowned world champions, with another 1,996 being made available to fans. 

This announcement also came coupled with confirmation that US president Donald Trump will be attending the final and presenting the trophy.

Championship winning teams being given rings is a common sight in American sport. 

In the NFL, the franchise who wins the Super Bowl is awarded rings, and often this comes with a lavish ceremony.

This decision by FIFA adds another Super Bowl-like element to the World Cup final which is beginning to look more like the NFL's showpiece event with what is set to take place.

A closing ceremony, which is now commonplace at major football events, will begin 90 minutes before kick-off with global music stars Robbie Williams and Post Malone set to perform along with movie star Tom Cruise.

However, the biggest gripe for football fans across the world is the introduction of a halftime show. 

While it boasts an impressive roster of artists including Madonna, Justin Bieber and Shakira, the 30-minute break could have a detrimental effect on Spain and Argentina whose players will have been conditioned to halftime break which lasts just 15 minutes.
