What time is the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony tonight?

Unlike previous editions, there will be three opening ceremonies taking place over the next two days to honour the hosts of this year's competition, the US, Canada and Mexico. 

The first will take place before Mexico's clash with South Africa at the Estadio Azteca this evening, and here is everything you need to know. 

What time is the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony? 

The first World Cup opening ceremony will take place in Mexico City tonight, June 11, and will begin at 11.30am local time. 

This means a 6.30pm start in the UK, 1.30pm on the East Coast, and 11.30am on the West Coast.

Where is the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony? 

The first opening ceremony in Mexico will take place at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. 

Canada's event will be taking at Toronto's BMO Field ahead of the team's match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium will be where the USA's opening ceremony will take place before they play Paraguay.

Who is performing at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony? 

All three opening ceremonies will have an array of stars performing from the world of music. 

In Mexico, Shakira and Burna Boy will be headlining, and for the first time, they will be both be performing the tournament's official song, 'Dai Dai'. 

Michael Buble, Alessia Cara and Alanis Morissette are three of the star names set to perform at Canada's opening ceremony, while Katy Perry will be the headliner in Los Angeles.
