The World Cup Golden Boot race Power Rankings v3.0

With the tournament on the verge of getting underway, most of the preparatory friendlies and training sessions have been completed and now it's time to lock in.

We've seen what kind of form most of the top players are in ahead of this World Cup, so it's once again time to update the DAZN News  World Cup Golden Boot Power Rankings.

This will be the third and final version of these rankings, with the first version available here and second edition here. Let's see how much has changed in the two weeks since the previous update.

1. Kylian Mbappé, France (—)

The France superstar didn't score in either of his country's warm-up friendlies over the past week, despite starting both.

However, Mbappé's pedigree is undeniable and his ability to crank it up a notch when the lights are brightest have been proven time and again for both club and country. As the reigning World Cup Golden Boot holder, Mbappé deserves this spot until someone takes it from him.

2. Harry Kane, England (—)

A lot rests on the shoulders of the England captain, and Kane has shown that he's completely comfortable still being the focal point of the Three Lions' attack.

Kane scored the lone goal in England's 1-0 victory over New Zealand on June 6 and started against Costa Rica in a weather-delayed final tune-up on Wednesday that finishes after these rankings have been published. Coming off another stellar season, Kane remains one of the most lethal finishers in the sport.

3. Erling Haaland, Norway (▲1)

Speaking of lethal finishers, Haaland is set to burst onto the World Cup stage after conquering the scoring charts in the Premier League once again.

He was held off the score sheet in Norway's final warm-up friendly, but that first World Cup match against Iraq looks like a prime opportunity for vintage Haaland to announce himself in style.

4. Ferran Torres, Spain (▼1)

Torres is coming off a decent campaign for Barcelona and will earn increased time on the pitch with Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams still not at full fitness.

The 26-year-old was on target for Spain against Iraq on June 4 but failed to find the back of the net in the team's most recent match, a 3-1 victory over Peru. Regardless, games against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia should present Torres with plenty of chances to score.

5. Kai Havertz, Germany (▲1)

Havertz loves an early goal — he scored the opener in the Champions League final inside the first 10 minutes and struck against the United States in the second minute of Germany's final tune-up.

The German attacker will have another chance to score early (and often) in his team's World Cup opener against Curaçao. The Caribbean nation allowed Scotland to score four times in a recent friendly and Germany will certainly look to top that tally, with Havertz leading the line.
