Andreas Schjelderup's stunning 36th-minute opener threatened to end England's campaign before Bellingham equalised deep into first-half stoppage time, then pounced on Ørjan Nyland's spill to settle the contest in the 93rd minute.

Norway pushed the Three Lions all the way, hitting the crossbar through Kristoffer Ajer and having a Torbjørn Heggem goal disallowed by VAR, but Bellingham's brilliance carried England into the semi-finals.

Bellingham's brace carried England through the most testing 120 minutes of their World Cup campaign.

His first-half stoppage-time equaliser demonstrated composure, driving into the area from Anthony Gordon's pass before finishing with his left foot past Nyland.

When Morgan Rogers' shot was parried in extra time, Bellingham reacted first to convert the rebound with his right foot and secure England's semi-final place.

His sixth goal of the tournament drew him level with Harry Kane at the top of England's scoring charts.
