Call it World Cup fever, but I fancy this to be the game where England proves the doubters wrong. 

There's a lot going against them. The right-back issues, the frustrating previous performances and playing the hosts in their backyard at altitude, but I can just feel them coming through comfortably. 

Much has been made about Mexico's record at the Azteca, and it is impressive at just two losses in 80 years, but they've played a hell of a lot of games against a lot of the minnows in that region - including Brazil's U23s.

As long as Tuchel picks the right wingers and we've got Harry Kane in the form that he's in, I can see the Three Lions' quality shining through against all the odds.

England are a better side than Mexico, and I want to trust in Tuchel's belief that they will play significantly better against sides that come out and actually attack and want to play against them.

However, based on previous performances, the jump to the next required level appears too large for this underperforming side.

Tuchel can't solve the personnel issues he's inflicted on himself - the wingers and fit right backs are not international standard (with the exception of Saka), and the defence cannot be trusted against an aggressive, quick, clever frontline.

Add in the home advantage, momentum, and altitude, and Mexico will benefit from it. So, sadly, I think it all comes to an end here.

It’s difficult to preview this game without taking into consideration the altitude and atmosphere, but in terms of quality, England are on another level.

Will that be enough against a Mexican side who have been brimming with confidence since the competition got underway?

England could do with this being the fixture when they finally show up, as performances so far have not been those of potential champions.

Despite this looking like a nightmare fixture due to the circumstances, England can look to Harry Kane to edge them through in another tight encounter.

After the narrowest of victories against DR Congo, I'm apprehensive to say the least ahead of a tough test against Mexico at the Estadio Azteca.

If Thomas Tuchel's side produce the same defensive display, then we will get punished, and I do worry that we just don't have the quality to withstand El Tri's attack.

Then there is Mexico's record at the Azteca, which includes just two defeats since it opened in 1966, although when you delve into those results, they have consistently played weaker opposition.

I can't see England winning this in normal time and think our most likely route to victory will be in a penalty shootout. Dare I say, England to win on penalties...
