Cape Verde the underdogs of the tournament
Every World Cup is better off with an underdog story, and Cape Verde are delightfully playing their role in the group stages of the 2026 finals.
Having earned an unlikely point in their goalless draw with favourites Spain in their opening game, the small African islanders continued their remarkable journey by giving Uruguay the scare of their lives in their second game.
Not only did they take the lead in Miami, but they showed their determination not to be World Cup fodder by fighting back from 2-1 down to earn another point in Group H.
It was once again goalie Vo who was the hero, pulling off several notable saves to keep his team in the game and hold on for the 2-2 draw with the South Americans.
It means now a win against Saudi Arabia in their last game could unbelievably see Cape Verde into the last 32. That's what a World Cup is all about.
Mo still has some magic
The 2026 World Cup is very much a tournament where we'll see the last of a generation of world-class stars, including Mohamed Salah, who's another in the winter of his international career.

Scots sweat on injuries
Scotland face a crucial final group game against Scotland on Wednesday, and ahead of the clash, could be without three key names after they missed training on Sunday.
Lewis Ferguson, Aaron Hickey and Scott McKenna were all absent for Steve Clarke's men as they prepare for the crunch meeting with the South Americans.
Ferguson played the whole 90 minutes against Morocco, but was seen training on his own, while Hickey and McKenna were nursing their injury issues.
However, Kieran Tierney looks to have shrugged off the cramp that saw him substituted after an hour on Friday and will be fit for the final group fixture.
