Former Arsenal striker Balogun scores two goals in USA thrashing
The USA made a statement in their first World Cup game by thrashing Paraguay 4-1 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
The standout player was former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, who scored twice before halftime to put the USA 3-0 up after Paraguay conceded an early own goal.
Balogun now plays his football at Ligue 1 side Monaco, but did spend 15 years at Arsenal before loan moves to Middlesbrough and Reims.
Giovanni Reyna scored the USA's fourth in added time and now sit top of Group D after a more prefect start for the tournament co-hosts.
Brazil star Neymar to miss Morocco match
Brazil begin their quest for a fifth World Cup this evening when they take on African champions Morocco at MetLife Stadium.
This is one of the ties of the group stage, but Brazil will be without superstar Neymar.
He has been ruled out of the match by manager Carlo Ancelotti with the 34-year-old still not fully recovered from a calf injury.
DAZN/FIFAEngland training equipment stolen
In one of the more crazy stories from the World Cup, England have had training equipment stolen whilst en-route to their base in Kansas City.
The Three Lions are set to arrive in Kansas City this afternoon with their first training session set for Sunday before facing Croatia next Wednesday.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident and the FA are working with the police to work out what was stolen.
Canada get first World Cup point
Canada finally got their first ever points at a World Cup after drawing 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto.
It was a frustrating first half for the Canadians who were punished for being wasteful with their chances as Bosnia took the lead through a Jovo Lukic header in the 21st minute.
The second half was a completely different performance. Canada dominated throughout and were finally rewarded with an equaliser from striker Cyle Larin who scored just 121 seconds after being brought on with 12 minutes remaining.
Qatar are next for Canada, and it is a match they will be expected to win in some fashion.
