England star reveals identity of team-mate giving him goalscoring tips

Having signed a lucrative five-year deal with Barcelona before joining up with the Three Lions, Gordon is keen to make an immediate impact at the Camp Nou.

And he has found the perfect man to talk to about goalscoring in the shape of England skipper Kane, who has already netted six times and provided one assist in North America.

The former Newcastle star, 25, said: "I have been speaking to H and trying to gain as much knowledge as I possibly can because he can do it on both feet, doesn't matter the angle, doesn't matter off his touch, the ball finds a way into the net.

"I have been trying to pick up a little bit off him."

A winger by trade, Gordon often operated as a stand-in striker for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.

With 17 goals in all competitions, he finished the 2025-26 campaign as the club’s top scorer. Add in the five assists he provided and it is little surprise that Barca came calling with a big-money offer.

But the Liverpudlian still wants to improve his numbers. He added: "I love finishing, it's a big part of my game, I want to be a goalscorer.

"The only way I can truly get to where I want to be is by practising every single day. More practice allows you to become free in the mind on game day.”

Gordon played a key role as England dug in to beat Mexico 3-2 at the iconic Azteca to advance to the World Cup quarter-finals.

Norway are up next on Saturday and the Barca man is confident the spirit within Thomas Tuchel’s squad could finally see the Three Lions end 60 years of hurt.

He said: "Camp life is amazing. I am absolutely loving it.

“We have got an unbelievable group, the best England group I have been a part of by a country mile, in terms of chemistry, in terms of connection, not just on the pitch but off the pitch.

"In terms of standards off the pitch, we are holding each other accountable, which is really important for any team that wants to be successful."

With two assists in four appearances to his name at the World Cup, Gordon has proven to be someone Tuchel can rely on.

It remains to be seen whether he can be a star in Spain but there will be no shortage of confidence when he joins up with Hansi Flick’s squad.
