Rogers wants another chance to sing Wonderwall with the England faithful

During the run to the quarter-finals, post-match celebrations have become synonymous with the players joining Three Lions fans in a rendition of the iconic Oasis hit.

Skipper Harry Kane lost his voice after the sing-along following the 3-2 win over Mexico in the last 16 — prompting band frontman Liam Gallagher to joke about the viral moment.

And Rogers, who has made four appearances in North America, admits the smash-hit track has helped the team bond with the travelling support.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Norway, he said: “I know the lyrics. I don’t think you’re English if you don’t know the lyrics, to be honest.

“I think it’s such a known song, everyone has to know the lyrics. If not, you better learn them quick!

“They’re memories that for a lifetime you realise how special they are — and you just want to soak them all in with the fans.

“I’ve not really seen it before [singing with fans at the end of games]. It’s a new thing for this tournament and we all talk about it after.

“You’re in awe of how many fans there are and how much it means to them, how passionate they are.

“To share that moment is very special and we all don’t take that for granted. We appreciate it so much, it means everything to us.”

England will have their work cut out stopping red-hot striker Erling Haaland and playmaker Martin Odegaard when they collide with Stale Solbakken’s side in Miami.

But Rogers, 23, is confident Norway will not derail the bid to end 60 years of hurt.

The Aston Villa star said: “The drive to make more [memories] and to go again is the biggest challenge — but I think it’s a challenge that excites a lot of this group.

“We can still improve and get better. That’s the best thing about football.

“You can always improve on something, it’s never the finished article or the end of anything because there’s a game around the corner that’s going to give us different problems.

“We’ll have to step up in a different way, whether we play differently or whatever that may look like, we’ve got another challenge ahead and that’s the exciting part about being a footballer.

“It’s never done, it’s never the end. You can always change and alter, kind of attack a different challenge. We will be ready.”

If the pulsating win over Mexico is anything to go by, England’s World Cup soundtrack is odds-on be heard once again at the weekend.
