LAFC eliminated from Club World Cup after loss to ES Tunis

LAFC's hopes of advancing to the FIFA Club World Cup knockout stages have vanished after losing 1-0 to ES Tunis on Friday.
After both teams suffered losses on matchday one, a win for either side was vital to stay in contention for the Round of 16.
The Tunisian champions were the underdogs going into their clash with the Californian MLS side, but it was Algeria's Youcef Belaili who opened the scoring in the 70th minute for ES Tunis.
LAFC offered little in reply, but they were given a lifeline in the 98th minute when they were awarded a penalty. However, forward Denis Bouanga saw his spot kick saved and LAFC's dreams of progressing in the Club World Cup were crushed.
On matchday three, it's set to be an all-out battle for second place in Group D with ES Tunis facing Chelsea who earlier in the day lost to Flamengo.
With both teams level on three points, a win is what's needed for a place in the knockout stages to be secured.
