Derby crashed out of the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 home defeat to Championship new boys Lincoln.
Lincoln thoroughly deserved their victory in the sunshine at Pride Park and could have won by a bigger margin.
It took the Championship newcomers less than three minutes to go ahead when Ben House steered in a corner via a deflection off Matt Clarke.
Lincoln were playing with confidence and a superb pass from Freddie Draper released Dom Jefferies to fire into the bottom right corner in the 23rd minute.
Derby offered little until first-half stoppage time when Sam Szmodics struck a brilliant volley from 25 yards into the top corner to halve the deficit.
House had a great chance to score his second in the 49th minute but shot into the side netting before Derby’s Carlton Morris had a shot blocked on the line by Deji Elerewe.
Derby goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom denied House from a tight angle when he turned over a shot at his near post but the closest the home side came to an equaliser was a volley from Morris, which went well wide.
